Abu Dhabi GP: The story behind my weekend
“So, I’ve safely arrived in Belgium and it feels good to get back to the action this weekend. I’m refreshed and recharged after the summer break.
“Some of you may have seen that I ended up spending some holiday time with my team-mate George – but it wasn’t planned!
“Initially I was looking to go somewhere slightly further afield, but with the current situation it was better to stay in Europe, and neither me nor my girlfriend had been to Greece before.
“We decided to holiday in Mykonos and just prior to the Hungarian Grand Prix we were talking with George and his girlfriend and realised that we were going to have some overlap. And then Charles happened to be there as well, so we bumped into him too!
“It was a good holiday. I relaxed, recharged, and melted a bit because of the crazy heat out there.
“As much as the holiday gave me some breathing space to take stock of the first half of the season and enjoy a little celebration after Hungary, I’m eager to get back to work. I’ve been at the factory this week, catching up with everyone after the break and preparing for the upcoming three tracks.
“It’s Spa this weekend and that’s one of the best circuits. It’s always been one of my favourites as it’s fast and flowing and has plenty of character – it’s a bit old school.
“Obviously, we’re coming off a positive result in Hungary, which was amazing for me and the team, but we know it is a very long season and the P8 we currently occupy in the Constructors’ Standings is not sealed yet. We all need to keep working hard.
“In the races prior to Hungary, there were also a lot of positives and we were going in the right direction. The focus is very much on building on that at the next events and continuing to move forward.”
